The Power of Now — How Mindfulness Reconnects You to Yourself

"Nothing ever happened in the past; it happened in the Now. Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now." — Eckhart Tolle

While an intentional morning sets the tone for your day, connection to your inner power deepens through how present you are within your everyday moments.

You Already Know How to Be Present
Have you ever caught yourself so immersed in what you were doing that nothing else mattered? It happens more often than you think — while washing the dishes, showering, driving, painting, gardening, or simply being in nature. In those moments, you are focused and mindful of the task at hand. You are being fully present with your experience.
That's the secret most people miss mindfulness isn't some exotic skill you need to acquire. It's a state you already slip into naturally. Practice is simply learning to return to it on purpose.

This Moment Is All That's Really Happening
When your mind is not ruminating about the past or plotting the potential future, you are simply in the present — the *now*. This very moment is all that you are experiencing, and therefore all that is really happening in your reality.
It's not what that rude person said to you on the subway last week. It's not getting that promotion in the next 3–6 months. It is the consciousness you are experiencing as you read this sentence.
Creating more awareness and presence throughout your day helps you reconnect with your inner power because you become intentional about where you place your attention. And where your attention goes, your energy flows. Over time, this practice can reduce feelings of overwhelm and intrusive thinking. With consistency, the gap between feeling controlled by your mind and feeling in control of your focus gradually narrows.

Let Thoughts Pass Like Clouds
Intrusive thoughts will come and go — it's a natural part of the human experience. Rather than resisting them or assigning meaning to every thought that surfaces, begin to simply notice when they arise and let them pass.
Of course, this is easier said than done. Like any skill, mindfulness takes practice. Be gentle with yourself in learning.

Turn Small Moments into Anchors
Whether you're walking, washing dishes, or showering, small moments become opportunities to return to the present. Try fully engaging in your senses:
- Notice the warmth of the sun's rays touching your skin
- Breathe in the smell of your favorite flower
- Savor the bursts of flavor in every bite of your meal

Gently observe what's around you without needing to judge it or change it. That's it. That's the practice.

Your invitation this week: Pick one daily activity — your shower, your morning walk, your first meal — and do it with full sensory presence. No phone, no multitasking. Just you and the now.
